Creative Minds returns to Toronto's Massey Hall on April 4, bringing together four influential artists to explore some of today's most urgent political, social and cultural issues. While last year's discussion was centred around art and the nation state, this edition of Creative Minds examines art's place in exposing the truth in this age of fake news and filter bubbles.

Watch Now!

Anna Maria Tremonti, the host of CBC Radio's The Current, will lead a conversation with celebrated author Salman Rushdie, thought-provoking performance artist Andrea Fraser, award-winning filmmaker Charles Officer and Juno-nominated musician IsKwé. These artists will explore how art can speak inconvenient truths to power — and how those in positions of authority sometimes talk back. The event will also kick off with an opening performance by Iskwé.

Creative Minds has been brought to life once again by four of Canada's pre-eminent cultural organizations — the Art Gallery of Ontario, Massey Hall, CBC Arts and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity — and this initiative is supported by series presenters Jonas and Lynda Prince. Take part in this in-depth discussion and discover how art can can direct us to the truth in this landscape of fact and "alternative facts."

Can't make it? No worries! You can watch live Wednesday April 4th, 2018 at 8 pm ET at cbc.ca/arts or on YouTube and Facebook.
