TORONTO, ON—When Shelby Dawson joined Tinder, she dreamed she would be greeting a slew of hot Canadians at her door. She did not envision a slew of hot pizzas topped with bacon, ham and pineapple.

"I'd swipe through hundreds of topless mirror selfies, get depressed and order a pizza," Dawson explained. "I ended up with so many pizza ordering apps on my phone I considered deleting Tinder to make room."

But a new partnership between Tinder and Domino's means singles like Dawson will no longer need to compromise the empty space on or in their phones, hearts or stomachs.

The two companies have teamed up to replace every 10th male profile on Tinder with a profile of a pizza users can order immediately by swiping right.

The move comes after independent research done by Tinder found that, while 32 per cent of Tinder sessions result in dates or hookups, more than half result in women immediately logging into their Domino's accounts and ordering a large pizza to be delivered "as soon as humanly possible."

Since launching the upgrade in early March, more than 12,000 pizzas have been ordered directly through the Tinder app.

Dawson said she has ordered three pizzas through Tinder since its hookup with Domino's.

"I'm all for unsolicited photos of sausage — as long as it's on a meat lover's pizza," Dawson said. "For every bro who sends me a dick pic, I know there's a pile of dough waiting that better understands my needs."

Although the move has also been applied to the "men interested in men" version of the app, some users have not found it as successful.

Terry Cardinal, a single man from Nanton, Alberta, said he has exhausted all his options.

"There are only 2,000 people in this town, and only 40 local gay men on Tinder," Cardinal said. "I had to keep expanding my geographical radius for new matches. At this point all the pizzas I'm paired with are out of my delivery area."

For some, the match made between Domino's and Tinder has been enlightening.

"I had just swiped left on a dozen Tinder dudes posing with dead freshwater trout," said 28-year-old Mei Wu.  "A picture of a veggie pizza popped up and I was like, 'yes, please.'"

"The guy who delivered it was really cute and asked for my number. But in that moment I realized that I don't think I'm interested in men. I think I'm just interested in pizza."

A spokesperson for Tinder said the company has no current plans to replace any female profiles with pizzas.

"Generally men seeking women just swipe right on everybody without even looking. They always wind up matching with someone as their standards aren't very high."
