Season 2, Episode 6: Chocolate Week
The five remaining bakers made delectable chocolate creations in an effort to lock up their places in the semi-final.
Andrei, Timothy, Megan, Mengling and Sachin made delicious chocolate tarts, then tackled a technical challenge that left some of the bakers feeling deflated. The competition for the Star Baker crown was close, but one baker managed to distinguish themselves during the showstopper — with a modern reworking of a classic cake. And sadly, as always, another baker was sent home.

For the technical challenge, the bakers tackled chocolate soufflés. In a slight twist, they had staggered starts, so judges Bruno Feldeisen and Rochelle Adonis could taste the soufflés fresh out of the oven. Timothy and Sachin struggled. TImothy's soufflé refused to rise, while Sachin's had chunks of unmixed egg white in his. Megan, who claimed to have never made (or even eaten) a soufflé, won the challenge, much to her surprise.
For the showstopper challenge, the bakers were asked to create a modern version of the classic Black Forest cake. There were some innovative creations, including the Black Forest cake as a giant cherry and the flavours of a Black Forest cake in a structure of choux pastries. But it was Sachin who took the cake, with a cake that featured a vanilla and cherry mousse and a hot pink mirror glaze.
Mengling also impressed with a Thai Tea Toffee Chocolate tart that was so good, the judges were actually fighting over it.
