'As if nothing had changed': Steven Page looks back on the BNL performance at the 2018 Juno Awards
The former Barenaked Ladies singer describes it as one of the highlights of his career
It's been three years since Steven Page joined the Barenaked Ladies onstage at the 2018 Juno Awards, when the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
They gave an emotional acceptance speech and then closed the show by performing their hits songs "One Week" and "If I had $1,000,000," a moment fans had been waiting for ever since Page left the band in 2009. This marked the first time the band had performed together in almost 10 years.
For Page, the moment is still fresh, and he beams with pride while talking about it now. "I hadn't seen the other guys in years, so to be there together with them with an audience cheering us on was deeply emotional," he says.
"Performing, that part for us is so natural," he adds. "To walk on there and put my ear monitors in, it's as if nothing had changed. Obviously, personally, all kinds of things had changed … but for those moments, it felt just as natural as it did 15 years before that."
