Move over Spidey, new comic heroes caught in Stan Lee's Web
Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk and the X-Men are already comic book icons, but Marvel Comics honorary chairman Stan Lee is hoping to create some new sensations with the launch of his own company and web site.
Lee's new venture, Stan Lee Media, will oversee a web site complete with what it claims will be the "biggest comic store in the galaxy". There will also be an Internet-only comic called The Seventh Portal.
The Seventh Portal's storyline was influenced by the online world, Lee told a Reuters reporter. The comic features seven youths from different countries.
"Because of the Internet, in some mystical way, they get transported into some other dimension and they find the warlord of that dimension is planning to attack our dimension," Lee said.
Animation and voices will replace the standard comic book format, and there will be bi-weekly story updates.
76-year old Lee recruited animators from Disney and digital effects experts from Hollywood for the new web business.
