Langley RCMP said traffic was being rerouted at the 264th Street exit and as of 8:30 p.m. PT they had "no anticipated time for reopening [the lanes]."
"We're asking road users to avoid the area," Sgt. Zynal Sharoom told CBC News. "It happened during rush hour and it has caused significant backups on the westbound side."
The incident is the third major crash in Langley in less than a week. Two of those collisions were fatal — one involving a motorcycle and SUV at 200 Street and 80 Avenue, and another fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 1.
"We're just reminding drivers to be safe on the roads, you know, spend some extra time and plan their routes accordingly and be very vigilant to your surroundings," Sharoom said.
RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area to contact police.
