$22M Whistler chalet could be Canada's most expensive vacation home
Buyers from Singapore, Germany and mainland China have expressed interest
A Whistler Real Estate agent has listed what could turn out to be Canada's priciest vacation property — if it sells.
The 9,800-square foot, ten-bedroom luxury home has been listed for $22 million by John Ryan.
The home is one of ten Whistler properties on the market for more than $10 million. The previous high for recreation property in Whistler was $13.5 million for an 11-bedroom home.
Nestled in the woods with unobstructed views across to Whistler-Blackcomb, he says the best way to appreciate the sprawling five-acre property is from the air.
"When you see kind of the normal density of Whistler and then you fly over this property, it's just a completely different world and it's just this hidden gem."
Ryan says he already has interest from potential buyers in Singapore and Germany and mainland China.
While the house is fitted out with plenty of luxuries, such as a chef's kitchen, bespoke furniture and yoga studio, Ryan's colleague at the Whistler Real Estate Company, Pat Kelly, says it may be the location that sells it in the end.
"If you've got $20 million you can go anywhere if you want a second home. So it's more than just the house that will cause somebody to make that sort of investment into Whistler," said Kelly.
