Alcohol a factor in West Vancouver rollover crash
West Vancouver Police say it's lucky injuries weren't worse after a Lexus SUV flipped over
A couple in their mid-50s was lucky to escape after their Lexus SUV flipped Thursday night, according to West Vancouver Police.
"It's very fortunate. Everybody that was involved, they were out, they were conscious, they were breathing. The two occupants of the Lexus have been taken up to Lions Gate Hospital for further treatment and observations, but no life-threatening injuries," said Cpl. Trevor Griffith.
Griffith said the Lexus was travelling southbound on 21st Street when two teens in a Volkswagon travelling westbound on Marine Drive crashed into the driver's side of the SUV at about 10:30 p.m. PT.
"We found this grey Lexus that had been essentially T-boned in the intersection. It had flipped and rolled over. Two occupants were inside. Paramedics and Fire attended. They were able to remove the two occupants of the Lexus," said Griffith.
Police don't believe speed was a factor in the crash, but alcohol was. Griffith said the man driving the Lexus had been drinking.
"Alcohol is involved. One of the drivers will receive a three day immediate roadside prohibition as a result of the alcohol consumed."
The 17 year-old driving the Volkswagon is a new driver. He and his passenger were uninjured.
