BC Ferries will continue to allow foot passengers and cyclists to make reservations for trips from Tsawwassen to the Southern Gulf Islands.

The reservations are only for trips to Salt Spring, Galiano, Saturna, Pender and Mayne islands from Tsawwassen. There are no reservations for return trips.

The system was first rolled out as a pilot project in May because of the large number of foot passengers and cyclists using the route on weekends. It will be extended until the end of March, 2016.

There is no charge to make a reservation or to change it, but tickets are non-refundable. Reservations can be made by phone by calling 1-888-BCFerry.

Customers must now check in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time to secure their reservation. Spaces for walk-on passengers without reservation will also still be available.
