NDP makes gains in Tri-Cities, Burnaby with upsets
But Liberals manage to grab Coquitlam-Burke Mountain
The NDP made gains in the Tri-Cities and Burnaby by picking up two seats that belonged to the B.C. Liberals, while losing one.
The orange wins made for a clean-sweep of Burnaby's four ridings.
Burnaby North
For the NDP's Janet Routledge, the second time's a charm.

In 2013, the retired director of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, lost to four-term Liberal MLA Richard T. Lee by 688 votes.
The NDP has lost the riding by fewer than 1,000 votes in three previous elections in 2013, 2009 and 2005.
This election, Routledge won by around 1.500 votes over Lee.
During the campaign, the NDP attacked the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. The B.C. Liberals supported the federal Liberal's decision to approve the project.
Port Moody-Coquitlam
The NDP also scored an upset win in Port Moody-Coquitlam.
Two-term Port Moody city councillor Rick Glumac defeated the incumbent Linda Reimer by less than 1,500 votes.
In 2013, Reimer won the riding from the NDP by 437 votes.

Burnaby-Lougheed
The NDP's Katrina Chen was elected in Burnaby-Lougheed by defeating first-time candidate Steve Darling.
The longtime Global BC morning news anchor, decided to enter politics a month after he was let go by the station.
Coquitlam-Burke Mountain
The Liberals were able to hit back by winning Coquitlam-Burke Mountain, but only by the narrowest of margins.

While the NDP's Jodie Wickens won a byelection in the riding after two-term B.C. Liberal MLA Doug Horne stepped down, she couldn't pull out a victory in this election over his replacement Joan Issacs.
Issacs won by less than 200 votes.
Issacs is a longtime Coquitlam resident who has worked for decades in the financial services industry while also serving as a B.C. Liberal Party executive.
Coquitlam-Maillardville
The NDP's Selina Robinson was re-elected in Coquitlam-Maillairdville by nearly 2,500 votes over Liberal Steve Kim.
In 2013, Kim originally won the riding but after absentee ballots came in and a recount was launched, Robinson was declared the winner by 41 votes.
Port Coquitlam
The NDP's Mike Farnworth has been elected for the sixth time in a row in Port Coquitlam.
Burnaby-Deer Lake
Anne Kang was elected for the NDP in Burnaby-Deer Lake.
Burnaby-Edmonds
Raj Chouhan was reelected for the NDP.
New Westminster
Judy Darcy was relected for the NDP in New Westminster
Richmond South Centre
B.C. Liberal candidate Linda Reid won her eight straight election and remains the longest tenured MLA in the B.C. legislature.
She was was first elected in 1991.
The Liberals held onto to all four ridings in Richmond
