Metro Vancouver's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating the discovery of a body Wednesday morning in Langley, B.C.

Robertson Crescent was closed between 240th Street and 244th Street for the investigation. Police were called to the scene around 8:30 a.m. PT and say the street will remain closed for some time.

IHIT Cpl. Meghan Foster said no arrests have been made, but the death was targeted and believed to be related to gang activity.

The victim has not been identified.

Foster described the incident as a "gruesome event."

"The investigation is still early," she said. "We're trying to identify our victim so we can record more information and forward our investigation."

IHIT isn't commenting on the method or cause of death but took to Twitter earlier on Wednesday to call one media organization "classless" for posting a photograph from the same area of what it said was a dismembered body.

Anyone with information on the death is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448.
