The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating after a woman was found dead in Chilliwack, B.C., on Monday morning under suspicious circumstances.

Homicide investigators say that Chantelle Ruhl, 37, was found in the 7500 block of Vedder Road, near a building referred to as the old Canadian Tire store, by police who were called out just before 11 a.m. PT Monday.

Police say that Ruhl had no fixed address, and they're asking anyone with more information on her whereabouts leading up to her death to contact them.

"I can only say that, like she may have been unhoused at certain times, and maybe she was staying with different people at times, but generally speaking, she was known to frequent that area," said Sgt. Freda Fong in an interview with CBC News.

Fong said there were no suspects in the case yet, and police had to do an autopsy to find out the exact cause of death.  Ruhl's body was found in an isolated area.

She said that police are treating the death as a homicide.

Anyone with information relating to Ruhl's death is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
