Coco the dog found after being snatched from Lougheed Mall parking lot
Owner Christina An says police are still investigating the incident
A toy poodle taken from a shopping cart in Burnaby, B.C., while its owner was loading groceries into her car is safe and back at home.
"Right now Coco is safe, that is my main priority," said the dog's owner, Christina An.
The dog was taken in a parking lot at Lougheed Mall on Saturday shortly before 6 p.m. An said she's been looking for Coco ever since, putting up posters and notices on social media.
The four-year-old poodle was in a small carrier that looked like a large purse, which An said led her to believe the people who took it didn't necessarily know Coco was inside.
She said someone found the dog in Langley and phoned police. She said officers are still investigating the theft.
Although Coco was hyperventilating and seemed somewhat distraught, An said the dog was otherwise in good health.
She advised people to be aware of their surroundings and to be vigilant at all times.
