Courtney Saul, Kamloops woman, charged in death of newborn

A 23-year-old woman appeared in court Thursday, charged with the killing of her newborn son four years ago.

A 23-year-old woman appeared in court in Kamloops, B.C. Thursday, charged with the killing of her newborn son four years ago.

Courtney Saul is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her son, George, a few hours after giving birth on December 5, 2011.

The judge ordered Saul — who is not in custody — undergo a psychiatric assessment.

She is scheduled to return to court next month.
