Editor's note
On April 21, 2020, CBC British Columbia published a story detailing the invention of a negative pressure vestibule being used in several B.C. hospitals to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
This story was based on a news release about Dr. Curt Smecher's invention distributed by the B.C. Anesthesiologists' Society, and we took the facts from that news release at face value.
We have since learned that the news release we received contained incorrect information, and we have since confirmed that the negative pressure vestibule has been in operation at other hospitals in B.C. and Canada for a number of years. In light of these facts, we have chosen to unpublish our story.
