'Extremely disturbing' sexual assault has Saanich police asking for public's help

Saanich police are seeking the public's help in what they are describing as an "extremely disturbing" sexual assault and robbery.

Saanich police are seeking the public's help in what they are describing as an "extremely disturbing" sexual assault and robbery.

On Wednesday evening a man started banging loudly on the ground floor apartment glass door in the 1500 block of Church Avenue near the University of Victoria. 

Two women in their 20s opened the door, worried that the suspect was going to break through the glass. Once inside a sexual assault occurred. 

The suspect then escorted the women to a nearby bank machine and forced them to withdraw money. He then fled on foot with the cash westbound across Shelbourne Street. 

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian male.
  • 30 to 40 years old.
  • Approximately 5 feet 11 inches, or 180 centimetres tall.
  • Medium build.
  • Unshaven and balding.
  • Gray hooded sweat shirt and gray or dark pants.
