Family of missing hiker Gordon Sagoo 'staying strong' on Day 4 of search

Family members of missing hiker Gordon Sagoo say they are doing their best to keep spirits up as they embark on Day 4 of their search.

"It's difficult," said his niece Manpreet Gill. "Everyday we're hoping we get to come home with him." 

Sagoo, 50, an avid trail runner from North Delta, went missing Sunday while hiking with two other people in Chilliwack's Cheam Mountain Range.

Search efforts resumed Thursday morning lead by Chilliwack Search and Rescue along with Sagoo's family and friends near Baby Munday Peak.

Sagoo has a history as an ultra-marathoner. For that reason, Gill believes her uncle may have ventured farther than the previous search perimeter, which may be expanded slightly today.

Gill said three days of search efforts with helicopters have not turned up any clues to Sagoo's whereabouts.

His 20-year-old daughter has been heavily involved in the search, Gill said. Despite her concern, she's tried to lift the spirits of those around her.

"Anyone that knows them know that they're each other's worlds so it's been difficult but she's staying so strong," said Gill of her cousin.

The family had set up a fundraising page for the Chilliwack search group to show their appreciation. It has already far exceeded its goal of $5,000 in donations.
