Woman fatally stabbed in Gastown, Vancouver police say

Vancouver police say they are investigating a fatal stabbing on Sunday in Gastown. The VPD says it arrested a 31-year-old man who has since been released.

Vancouver police say they are investigating a fatal stabbing on Sunday in Gastown.

Police officers were called at 4:30 a.m. PT after reports of a woman being stabbed near Carrall and Water streets.

First responders provided care at the scene; however, police say 40-year-old Michelle Bell of Surrey died later in hospital.

A 31-year-old man was arrested by the Vancouver Police Department in connection with Bell's death but has since been released.

Police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
