Halloween pet costume sales booming, say retailers
Pet owners love dressing up pets to match their own Halloween costumes
Halloween sales are booming across Canada and a more and more of the costumes being sold are for pets, according to retailers.
Over the last few years, Canadian costume retailer Halloween Alley says it has seen sales double over the past five years, in no small part, due to pet costumes.
Franchise owner Tarnia Loewen says its North Vancouver location has just restocked its wall of dog costumes.
"They're just so popular," she says. "Pets are huge. We just find that a lot of people are looking for them."
Loewen says many owners like their dog's costumes to match their own, particularly when dressing as something that fits a theme, like a superhero.
