Police investigating after person found dying at the side of the road near Yale, B.C.

Officer were called to a location north of Yale Wednesday morning, RCMP said, for reports of a person lying next to the highway. The person had life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

Police are investigating a suspicious death north of Yale, B.C.

In a statement, RCMP said officers were called to the community, about 20 kilometres north of Hope, for reports of a person lying on the side of Highway 1 Wednesday morning.

They arrived around 4:15 a.m. PT and found a person with life-threatening injuries who later died at the side of the road.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is working with Hope RCMP on the file.

RCMP did not specify the sex of the victim and said IHIT would provide any further information.

DriveBC earlier reported the closure of Highway 1 in both directions at Toll Road in Yale due to a "vehicle incident."

The provincial highway information service advises drivers to use the Coquihalla Highway in the meantime.
