Thousands of job hopefuls are expected to converge on the Vancouver headquarters of Hootsuite Wednesday for #Hoothire, the social media company's semi-annual job fair.

Hootsuite's vice-president of talent, Ambrosia Humphrey, says the company needs about 100 full-time, salaried employees.

"Hoothire is a fantastic recruiting or talent acquisition event for us," says Humphrey.

"Really, it serves a much bigger picture of community engagement and sending a message that we're investing in talent in B.C."

The hiring fair comes days after the Wall Street Journal reported Hootsuite is on the verge of a deal with Boston-based Fidelity Investments that could pave the way for the company to go public.

Hootsuite won't comment on the report. But Humphrey says the company's growing brand is expected to draw even more than the 1,200 people who showed up for the last hiring fair.

The two-hour event will take place from 5-7 p.m. at Hootsuite's new headquarters at 111, E. 5th Ave.

Humphrey says the company needs developers, sales people, and other employees who can speak some of the 15 languages in which Hootsuite operates around the globe.

They have expanded to 650 employees since the company was founded in 2008.

Though renowned for an off-beat work space featuring ping-pong, a yoga room and picnic tables, Humphrey says applicants should be prepared for more than just fun.

"Ping-pong tables might get people's attention, but they won't care in a month," she says.
