Homicide investigators have identified 62-year-old Surrey, B.C., resident Brian Chapman as the fatal victim of a weekend shooting.

The RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team released Chapman's name in on Wednesday.

According to a news release, Chapman was known to police and, while his death is not believed to be connected to Lower Mainland gang conflict, it is also not being considered a random incident.

Chapman was discovered inside a home near Bear Creek Park on Sunday evening after police were called to the 13500 block of 84th Avenue just before 6 p.m. PT.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, RCMP said Monday.

Police say the actual shooting might have occurred around 7 a.m. PT on Sunday.

Homicide investigators are seeking witnesses who might have heard or seen anything unusual and are requesting dash cam footage from that area.
