RCMP officers in Kelowna, B.C., are investigating after two bodies were found inside a local business following gunshots and a fire.

A Saturday statement from police says they were called to the Adams Road area Wednesday afternoon after receiving a report of gunfire and a subsequent blaze at the building.

The statement says officers found two bodies once they got inside, but offered no other details.

On Wednesday night, police said they had shut down the 100 block of Adams Road, near Highway 97, as they were responding to an "unfolding incident."

"This was a serious incident and in order to ensure everyone's safety, it was necessary to shut down the highway and evacuate the surrounding areas until it ended," said Cpl. Michael Gauthier at the time.

The Saturday statement says police believe this is an isolated case and the public is not at risk.

It says investigators are working with the B.C. Coroners Service to determine the causes of death for the two people that were found inside the business.

Anyone with more information is being asked to call the police or Crime Stoppers.
