Licence to offend: ICBC's list of banned vanity plates
2,000 plate requests rejected, including ones deemed "offensive," "suggestive" and "political"
The Insurance Corporation of B.C. has released a list of 2,000 requests for vanity plates they've rejected over the past couple of years, including 14 rejected as offensive.
One person wanted to drive around with 3 Ks on their bumper. Someone else just wanted the letters U and F, but not in that order.
Another 30 ideas were called "suggestive," including RIDE ME, and a request for the number 4, followed by the word PLAY.
ICBC deemed about 100 others were "not in good taste," and rejected them as well.
But most of the rejected plates just don't fit ICBC's six-character limit or conflicted with its regular numbering scheme.
The list was published after a freedom of information request from Jordan Bateman, B.C. director of the Canadian Taxpayer's Federation.
