Fatal vehicle crash closes Lougheed Highway eastbound in Maple Ridge
Police say 1 person dead in early morning crash, highway closed eastbound from 240th Street to Jim Robson Way

A stretch of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge, B.C., is largely closed Friday morning following a fatal crash.
All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane on the thoroughfare are closed from 240th Street to Jim Robson Way, and 240th Street is fully closed from River Road to Hill Avenue.
Ridge Meadows RCMP said they were called to the intersection of 240th Street and Lougheed Highway just after 3 a.m. Friday. They said one person died in the crash, which they believe involved only one vehicle.
Photos taken of the scene show a car with its back end in the air and all but the rear of it severely damaged.

RCMP said the road is expected to remain closed for "several hours" Friday morning.
"The Ridge Meadows RCMP is requesting patience this morning; and asking for commuters to plan an alternative route," they said.
The detachment is investigating the crash with the assistance of the Serious Crimes Unit and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash cam footage to contact Ridge Meadows RCMP directly at 604-463-6251.
