The Vancouver Park Board has turned down five possible locations for a permanent love lock installation in the city.
Park Board commissioners turned down proposed tourist-friendly sites
The Vancouver Park Board has turned down all of the proposed locations for a permanent love lock installation in the city.
Commissioners voted Monday night on five possible locations in or near Stanley Park, English Bay beach, Queen Elizabeth Park, Kitsilano Beach and Jericho Beach.
Love locks are popular and controversial throughout the world. Installations in Paris and New York were removed for safety reasons.
In Vancouver, city engineers removed locks from the Burrard Bridge, and chain link fences of the Plaza of Nations.
The board did approve hiring a local artist to create an installation once a location has been chosen, and promises public consultation before that happens.
