Vancouver police say a 37-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an incident between two men that led to one of them falling into the path of a moving car.

On July 15, just after 10:30 p.m. PT, officers came across what initially appeared to be a crash involving a SUV and a single pedestrian at East Hastings and Windermere, VPD Const. Jason Doucette said.

According to witnesses, there had been some kind of a fight between the 37-year-old and another man that led to the 37-year-old being hit by the SUV in the street.

The driver stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation, but police say the other man ran away before officers arrived.

Doucette said the victim is recovering in hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD at 604-717-2541.
