Marathon swimmer completes 105 km crossing of Okanagan Lake

Ultra-endurance athlete Adam Ellenstein has successfully completed his marathon, lengthwise swim of Okanagan Lake.

It was nearly midnight before the 39-year-old waded out of the water at Penticton B.C., more than 40 hours after he started his swim 105 kilometres to the north at Okanagan Landing near Vernon B.C.

An enthusiastic crowd greeted Ellenstein before he was whisked off for a medical checkup.

The Detroit resident hopes to claim a Guinness World Record for the swim and also wants to raise awareness about Parkinson's Disease.
