The proportion of workers in Metro Vancouver who use public transit to get to work increased by just three per cent between 2006 and 2011.

New data released by Statistics Canada on Wednesday shows Metro Vancouver, at 19.7 per cent, trailing Toronto and Montreal, at 23.3 and 22.2 per cent respectively.

The 2011 National Household Survey indicates 70.8 per cent of Metro Vancouver workers use their car, truck or van to get to work.

Meanwhile, some 6.3 per cent of Metro Vancouver workers walk to work, while 1.8 per cent cycle in.

Statistics Canada data is listed according to Census Metropolitan Areas. The Vancouver CMA covers all of Metro Vancouver.
