42-year-old man charged in 2022 Surrey homicide

Nelson Short has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Frank James in 2022. His next court appearance is May 29. Police say there are more suspects and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Three years after the death of 47-year-old Frank James in Surrey, B.C., a 42-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder. 

Nelson Adam Short was arrested in Burnaby, B.C., on May 23, and the B.C. Prosecution Service laid charges the following day.

Police say first responders were called to a residence in Surrey, located at 188 Street and 76 Avenue, on August 24, 2022. When they arrived, they found James with life-threatening injuries. 

Despite paramedics' efforts to save his life, James did not survive.

Investigators believe others were involved in his death and are asking anyone with information to contact police. 

Short made an appearance in court on May 24, and his next appearance is scheduled for May 29. 

B.C. RCMP say no additional information will be released as the matter is now before the courts.
