One man was taken to hospital with stab wounds after a fight broke out on Granville Street early Saturday morning.

The attack happened outside the Ramada Inn just after 2 a.m.

"I thought he was drunk at first, but then I realized he'd been stabbed," said Chris Campbell, who was in a nearby pub when he heard the fight going on outside.

"I'm not a hero ... someone's down, you go in and help. There's nothing heroic about that," said Campbell, who put pressure on the victim's wounds. (Gian-Paolo Mendoza/CBC)

Campbell rushed outside and immediately started putting pressure on the victim's wounds after seeing the man lying on the ground bleeding.

"People don't react really quickly … they're looking around wondering what they should do, but if someone's bleeding, you just apply pressure," he said. "So that's what I did."

First responders arrived and continued to treat the man for stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but in stable condition.
