The gas station attendant told CBC News he wasn't sure what happened outside, but said someone rushed into his small store to buy milk to treat an apparent pepper spray attack.
Outside, a grey Honda sedan could be seen with blood inside.
The B.C. Ambulance Service confirmed one person was taken to hospital in critical condition, with stab wounds.
Several Vancouver police officers were seen speaking with a tall, shirtless man for some time inside the taped-off crime scene.
The vehicle involved in the incident matches the description given for a vehicle that fled from an alleged machete attack nearby at South East Marine Drive and Fraser Street. It's unclear if the two incidents are connected.
