Person dies after being hit by vehicle in North Vancouver: police

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle near North Vancouver's Lonsdale Quay early Saturday morning, according to police.

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle near North Vancouver's Lonsdale Quay early Saturday morning, according to police.

North Vancouver RCMP received a call about the incident just before 6 a.m. PT, according to Cpl. Dave Noon. 

Photos and video footage of the scene at West 1st Street and Forbes Avenue show a North Shore taxi with a dent in the front corner. 

"The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene," Noon said. 

Mounties, the fire department and ambulance services all responded to the incident. 

Officers are investigating the collision alongside the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, Noon said. 

B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed two ambulances responded to an incident on the North Shore on Saturday morning and that paramedics did not take any patients to the hospital.
