Police say high-risk sex offender Jason White now in custody

Vancouver Police say they have arrested Jason Anthony White, a convicted high-risk sex offender who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

In a brief statement, police said White was taken into custody at 3.30 a.m. PT Saturday. The release did not say where White was found.

White, 45, is also a person of interest to investigators in an attempted home invasion of an elderly woman in the Oakridge neighbourhood Thursday night.

White was deemed a dangerous offender after being found guilty of breaking into the home of a 74-year-old woman in Nanaimo in February 1994, where he sexually assaulted and robbed her.

White appealed the dangerous offender designation and was eventually released on a long-term supervision order.
