Two people arrested after police incident at Robson and Hamilton streets

"It's possible we are dealing with a sexual assault. But again, we don't know if a crime has taken place," said Cst. Brian Montague with the VPD.

'It's very bizarre and I can honestly tell you, we still don't really know what's going on here'

Two people have been arrested after a police incident on Robson Street near Hamilton Street Friday afternoon.

A woman involved in the incident has been taken to hospital after being found naked and inebriated inside a Wind Mobile store, according to police. The woman is also in police custody.

"It's possible we are dealing with a sexual assault. But again, we don't know if a crime has taken place," said Cst. Brian Montague with Vancouver police.

"It's very bizarre and I can honestly tell you, we still don't really know what's going on here."

Police say they received a 911 call shortly before noon from a passerby who spotted the woman's foot sticking out from behind the counter at the store.

The VPD responded with a large police presence and at one point, four officers had their guns drawn during the standoff.

Police closed off the area for about an hour Friday afternoon and reopened the block shortly before 1:15 pm P.T.

One of the people arrested was associated with the Wind Mobile store, according to police.

"During the negotiations we contacted a representative of the store. He informed us that the store was closed," said Montague.

"However, when we did take three people into custody, two men and one woman, he was one of the people inside the business."

The VPD issued a statement earlier on Friday saying they were "dealing with a suspicious set of circumstances at a business."

"We currently have our Emergency Response Team and negotiators at the scene," said Montague.
