B.C.'s anti-gang unit raids Campbell River biker club in homicide investigation
Mixed martial artists John Dillon Brown killed last March in targeted homicide
B.C.'s anti-gang police unit raided a Campbell River motorcycle clubhouse Thursday morning as part of its investigation into the homicide last year of a Saanich mixed martial arts fighter.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement unit says it will remain on the scene at the Devils Army Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Clubhouse for several days gathering evidence relating to the discovery of John Dillon Brown's body in March of last year.
The clubhouse is located at 70 Petersen Road in Campbell River. Police say the Devil's Army is a "one per cent" outlaw motorcycle support club for the Haney Hells Angels chapter and currently has five full-patch members.
The term "one per cent" was coined after the American Motorcycle Association famously said 99 per cent of its members were law abiding citizens, implying the remaining one per cent were outlaws.
Dillon Brown, 30, was found dead inside his grey Honda Accord near a Sayward bridge, about 75 kilometres outside of Campbell River on the evening of Mar. 12, 2016.
He was a father of four children, two of whom were born after he was killed.
He was last seen alive in Campbell River on Mar. 11 at around 1 p.m.
Police say his homicide was targeted.
They say they believe there are still members of the community who may have informaton on his death and are asking anyone who may know something to come forward.
