Project CHEF gets children cooking tasty, nutritious food
Non-profit education program Project CHEF is underway in Vancouver, teaching elementary school students about wholesome food—and making tasty scones!
Apple and sage scones are on the menu for Vancouver students and seniors
In Vancouver, a group of nine and 10 year olds is cooking up a storm, as part of Project CHEF (Cook Healthy Edible Food)—an education program where elementary school students do their learning in the kitchen.
The program was founded by teacher and chef Barb Finley, who spent Wednesday teaching a group of Grade 4 and 5 students from Queen Mary Elementary about the nutritional value of food made in the kitchen.
Students learned how to make tasty apple and sage scones, which they shared with local seniors, who shared their own stories of homecooking in their childhoods.
