Don't worry, it's just a training exercise.

Officers in tactical gear at Guildford Town Centre shouldn't cause alarm on Sunday night as Surrey RCMP will be conducting an emergency response training exercise.

"We are fortunate to be able to use this location and provide our first responders with up to date and realistic scenario-based training," said Surrey RCMP Sgt. Alanna Dunlop.

RCMP will close off the area after the mall is closed at 6 p.m. PT on May 1 but nearby traffic on 152 Street and 104 Avenue will not be affected.

Marked and unmarked police vehicles will be used as part of the training and extra security personnel will direct people who may need to access the parking lot or surrounding businesses.
