Hundreds of Victoria area residents lined the streets last Thursday as police escorted Beckett's body to the airport so it could be flown to Vernon for tests.

Const. Sarah Beckett died last Tuesday when her police cruiser was in a collision with a pick-up truck in the Victoria suburb of Langford.

Beckett, an 11-year member of the force who spent her entire career on Vancouver Island, is survived by her husband and two young children.

The driver of the other vehicle was arrested at the scene and released last Wednesday. No charges have been laid, but police said the investigation is ongoing.
