Singalong from space hosted by astronaut Chris Hadfield
Broadcast can be heard on the Canadian Space Agency's website at 9:30 a.m. PT
From his perch in the International Space Station, Cmdr. Chris Hadfield will be leading children across Canada — including thousands of elementary students from British Columbia — in a singalong Monday morning.
Hadfield will be performing ISS — Is Somebody Singing?, which he co-wrote with musician Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies.
The song was co-commissioned by CBCMusic and the Coalition for Music Education.
Jodi Aunuma, a music teacher at Campus View Elementary School in Saanich, B.C., says Hadfield’s broadcasts have helped connect music and science.
"Having Chris as the astronaut singing this song is just amazing," she said.
"[The students] are so excited and they absolutely love the song. They love watching the videos and we've gone on to watch videos of Chris showing other things about space. The connections that we've drawn from this are just exceptional."
The broadcast of the sing-along can be heard on the Canadian Space Agency's website at 9:30 a.m. PT Monday.
