More snow means school closures as cold snap continues
Heaviest snow fell in Fraser Valley, Surrey, Nanaimo and Southern Gulf Islands where many schools closed
Another dump of snow fell on Metro Vancouver and other parts of the South Coast this morning — and it's likely to stick around for the rest of the week.
Some of the heaviest snow fell in the Fraser Valley, Surrey, Nanaimo and the Southern Gulf Islands where many schools have closed for the day.
The heavy snow did not result in the closure of the Alex Fraser or Port Mann bridges, but the Transportation Ministry said closures could be possible later in the day on the Alex Fraser Bridge if ice starts to fall.
Several thousand BC Hydro customers lost power in Duncan, Surrey, White Rock, Sooke and Galiano this morning.
Environment Canada forecasts the snow will end this morning and the region will have clear skies and cold temperatures for the rest of the week.
Across B.C. Arctic outflow and extreme cold warnings are also in place for Howe Sound Whistler, North Coast, Central Coast, Chilcotin, Dease Lake and Kootenay and Yoho Parks.
