Battalion Chief Steve Zecchel said investigators will work to figure out exactly how the flames began at such an odd hour on the exterior of the home, underneath the balcony.
Zecchel said 12 firefighters were called to extinguish the fire, and managed to get it under control very quickly.
"When they arrived, they encountered flames on the deck at the rear of the building, and it worked its way up and got into the soffit area," he said, adding that the fire worked its way into the attic area.
The house is attached to the Crescent Park Grocery store, which could be seen filled with smoke during the fire.
All the occupants of the home were able to make it safely outside.
