Special weather statements in effect for blustery Vancouver and Victoria
A cold front will sweep across the south coast this afternoon, accompanied by strong gusty winds
Special weather statements are in effect for Metro Vancouver and the Greater Victoria regions as cold, blustery conditions sweep across the south coast.
Metro Vancouver, including the City of Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, the North Shore, Surrey, Langley, Richmond, and Delta will all experience strong wind gusts late on Saturday afternoon and a strong cold front.
Over Greater Victoria and the lower mainland, southeast winds will rise to 30 to 60 kilometres per hour late Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon. They'll then shift southwesterly, gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour late this afternoon as the front passes. Winds will ease early in the evening.
Strong northerly winds are also expected over Howe Sound, and will ease early on Saturday evening.
Mountain pass flurries
Windy conditions, combined with rain and flurries are also expected throughout parts of B.C's southern interior.
The cold front will cross the region Saturday night, which will bring rain, changing to snow. Environment Canada says 5 to 10 cm is possible over some higher elevations.
