Police say motorcyclist dead after crash in Surrey, B.C.

Police in Surrey, B.C., say a motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a vehicle Saturday morning. 

Surrey police have confirmed the RCMP is investigating the crash at the intersection of 132 Street and Crescent Road, east of Crescent Beach.

Police say emergency crews tried to save the motorcyclist's life, but the man died at the scene and the cause of the crash is unknown.

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton told CBC News they don't know if the dead man was a Surrey resident, and they are not releasing his age yet.


Investigators say the area will likely remain closed for several hours on Saturday while police do their work. They were first called out just before 8:45 a.m. PT.

Officers say people should avoid the area and take alternate routes. 

They say witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage should contact the Surrey Police Service.
