Three people have been detained and a black Ford Mustang has been seized by police, after shots were fired between two vehicles, according to Surrey RCMP.

Police said the incident happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday, with crime scenes in the 12800-block of 74th Avenue and at 130th Street and 72nd Avenue.

According to police, witnesses called 911 to report that the drivers of a silver Honda Civic and a Ford Mustang were chasing each other, with gunshots being fired between the cars.

Officers located the Mustang, detained its three male occupants and found at least one bullet hole in the car.

Police say a verbal altercation took place before the incident escalated, and that this does not appear to be connected to a string of similar shootings in the area in recent months.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the shooting is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
