Temperature records fall as heat hits B.C.
After a long, cold and wet spring, it seems summer has finally arrived in B.C., with a high-pressure system that is breaking temperature records across the province.
CBC Senior Meteorologist Claire Martin said Wednesday's scorcher broke more than 20 records across the province, sending thousands of British Columbians to pools, lakes and beaches to beat the heat.
Records were broken in Kitimat, Squamish, Pemberton, Lytton, Abbotsford, Victoria and Whiterock, said Martin.
"One of the biggest ones was Chilliwack at 34.7 degrees. They broke a record previously set in 1920," said Martin.

The 30.7 degrees recorded in White Rock smashed the 28-degree high set in 1928.
And the heat continues on Thursday with Kamloops bracing for 35 degrees and cities such as Prince George and Revelstoke expected to reach the low 30s.
In Vancouver temperatures are forecast to hit 29 degrees by the water and 33 degrees inland on Thursday.
The UV index rating for most areas is also very high, meaning anyone spending time in the sun should be covering up and slapping on sunscreen.
Temperatures are forecast to cool slightly over the weekend, but the sunshine is expected to remain.
