Metro Vancouver Transit Police say a TransLink bus crashed into a traffic pole and came to a stop in the front yard of Surrey, B.C., home on Tuesday morning.

Transit police said they responded to an incident involving a TransLink bus just after 5 a.m. PT at the intersection of 132 Street and 88 Avenue.

They said an out-of-service transit bus was reportedly travelling northbound on 132 Avenue when the driver tried to avoid a westbound vehicle entering the intersection.

The bus hit a traffic pole and then came to a stop in a residential yard, police said. No one was injured and no passengers were on board as the bus was out of service.

A bus is seen with traffic cones and a tow truck next to it.

"Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision," Metro Vancouver Transit Police Const. Amanda Steed wrote in a statement.

She added that there were "no reports of damage to residential property."

The intersection was closed for part of Tuesday morning as emergency responders worked to remove the bus, with transit police saying the traffic pole had fallen onto B.C. Hydro wires.

A bus is seen being towed on a sunny day.
