Vancouver getting out the sandbags to help fight winter flooding
To ward off storm surges and king tides the city of Vancouver is getting out the sandbags in low lying areas.

King tides, storm surges and rising sea levels are all a flood threat to Vancouver's low lying areas, especially in the winter.
Today in what's become an annual event city crews were dispatched to fill and stack thousands of sandbags along the Marine Drive near Locarno Beach.
The city says it's looking at more permanent options, like raised sidewalks, to help fight flooding.
