Vancouver International Wine Festival event suggestions
Think it's too early to plan for Wine Fest at the end of February? Think again
Now is the time to plan your edible adventures at the Vancouver International Wine Festival, says On the Coast food columnist Anya Levykh.
The festival takes place from Feb. 20 to March 1, 2015 and Levykh describes it as one fo the largest wine festivals in North America, and says some of the events have already sold out.
Winery dinners
If you're looking for a posh dinner with wine pairings galore, winery dinners are the way to go.
These events feature a multi-course meal prepared around a specific selection of wine. Participants get to meet a representative from the winery itself.
Here are Levykh's winery dinner suggestions:
- Diversity of the Barossa (Blue Water Cafe)
- The Age of Semillon (Coast Restaurant)
- Buona Sera per il Vino (Siena)
Seminars, tastings and lunches
If you're more interested in learning about specific varietals or how terroir affects the grapes, try a seminar or tasting.
This year the festival's theme country is Australia, with a global focus on Syrah and Shiraz, but there are many events and dinners that focus on other wine-growing regions as well.
Here are Levykh's suggestions for lunches and seminars:
- Restaurant Australia (grazing lunch)
- All About Syrah (wine seminar)
- Barrossa's Old Vine Heritage (wine seminar)
