Now is the time to plan your edible adventures at the Vancouver International Wine Festival, says On the Coast food columnist Anya Levykh.

The festival takes place from Feb. 20 to March 1, 2015 and Levykh  describes it as one fo the largest wine festivals in North America, and says some of the events have already sold out.

Winery dinners

If you're looking for a posh dinner with wine pairings galore, winery dinners are the way to go.

These events feature a multi-course meal prepared around a specific selection of wine. Participants get to meet a representative from the winery itself.

Seminars, tastings and lunches

If you're more interested in learning about specific varietals or how terroir affects the grapes, try a seminar or tasting.

This year the festival's theme country is Australia, with a global focus on Syrah and Shiraz, but there are many events and dinners that focus on other wine-growing regions as well.
