Woman killed crossing downtown Vancouver intersection

Police closed off a major intersection in downtown Vancouver this morning after a woman was struck and killed by a flatbed truck.

Buses had been diverted to avoid the intersection of Main Street and East Hastings Street

A major intersection in downtown Vancouver is reopen after a woman was struck and killed by a flatbed truck Wednesday morning.

The incident happened at the intersection of Main Street and East Hastings Street just before 9 a.m. PT. The intersection was closed until early Wednesday afternoon as officers completed their investigation.

Vancouver police say the truck was making a left turn at slow speed at a green light when the pedestrian was struck.

TransLink says a number of buses have been diverted and the intersection is expect to remain closed well into the afternoon.
